Old Mutual Insure’s relocation from the JHB CBD to their new 25 000m² home Wanooka Place building in Parktown was also an opportunity to modernise and optimise space in this beautiful new building.
The project went out to tender and Barker Street proved most competitive in terms of price, quality, previous works completed and its ability to perform on this contract in the tight time frames that were required.
The move into this building was done under extreme pressure as the client had to exit their current space and move into the new space in a very tight window of time. The initial 540 workstations were manufactured and installed in record time of 3 weeks due to the clients urgent requirements. This lead time on that quantity of workstations would usually take double that amount of time.
All 2740 open plan workstations were manufactured and installed in 8 weeks. The balance of the 69 managerial workstations and 102 meeting rooms were manufactured and installed in 6 weeks.
The client was thrilled with the result.
